Estimated Cost per Student:   $2,900 all-inclusive
Program Description   The objective of this program is to provide students with experiential learning opportunities related to European Fashion Geography, specific to England and France. The intent of this experience is to allow students opportunities to trace fashion evolution, comparing and contrasting British, French, and American experiences related to historical, forecasting, designing, and merchandising aspects in two locations where innovations are likely to occur earlier in the fashion cycle. This experience begins in London, England known for an edgy fashion aesthetic. The second city students will visit is Paris, France. The root of French fashion is haute couture, which are unique pieces that focus on artistry and workmanship.
The course design focuses on developing additional skills and perspectives for students that enable them to get the most out their international experience. It will provide students with information about the processes and practical aspects of international travel. However, it is not intended to teach students how to live in a specific host country, but it will provide the resources necessary for them to maximize learning experiences both domestically and internationally. Students will do research tailored to this class experience and individual needs in relation to British and Parisian cultures. General intercultural communication techniques, vital in preparing students for the different views, values, and customs they may encounter will be integrated into class discussions and assignments as well as guest speakers.
