Program Description:   This course will allow students to learn the basics of teaching ESL with an 8 week hybrid course in Spring 2019. Students will then travel to Zagreb, Croatia in the summer of 2019 for a 16 day experience that centers on teaching ESL at a summer school. Students will attend a workshop, work with local Croatian university students to develop lesson plans, and then teach their lesson plans to Croatian elementary school children at a summer school. This experience will allow students to gain hands on practice in teaching and curriculum design, while exploring and learning about the local culture of Zagreb. No prior teaching experience is required. We will also visit historic Dubrovnik (where they film King’s Landing in Game of Thrones) for a weekend visit to the coast. This short trip to the coast will allow students to explore a different part of Croatian culture and better understand the history and mindset of people from the region.
