Project FAQ

Will students have access to their Blackboard materials after August 2022?

Not directly. We will have backups of Blackboard course data after our contract with Blackboard ends. To access the backup data you’ll need to put in a request with OIT.

When will my Blackboard content be migrated to Canvas?

Blackboard content from the summer and fall of 2020 has been migrated to Canvas.  You can see those courses by clicking on the “Courses” button and selecting “All Courses”.  We will continue to migrate course content as semesters conclude.  You may also export your Blackboard course and import it into a Canvas sandbox if you would like. I have an administrative course in Blackboard, what will happen to it?

We will be reaching out to the owners of non-academic course sites beginning this summer. We will assist you to determine if the site should move to Canvas, Teams, or some other tool.

Will I be able to have a DEV course to practice in?

Canvas calls developmental course shells a “sandbox”.  All faculty will be given a personal sandbox. A sandbox for individual courses may be requested.

Will I be able to get assistance with migrating my courses to Canvas?

Yes! As we move through the pilot phases we will be providing a variety of training opportunities such as in-person/Zoom webinars (as Covid allows), instructional documents, and one-on-one appointments.  Additionally, Canvas offers 24/7 support through a chat interface that will be able to answer questions at any time. Both the FCTE, Instructional Design team and OIT are committed to providing instructors with assistance through this process.
