Heather graduated from Indiana University in December 1994 with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing. She has worked in the areas of Med-Surg, Critical Care, Recovery Room, Medicare Part B, Disease Management, and Pharmaceutical. She holds certificates in Clinical Research and Legal Nurse Consulting. Since 2009, she has taught for LPN and ASN programs in Med-Surg, Pharmacology, and Fundamentals. In May 2010, she graduated from Indiana State University (ISU) with a Master's degree in Nursing Administration. In 2011, she began employment in the BSN department at ISU teaching Leadership, Community Health Nursing, and Capstone & Med-Surg clinicals. In December 2012, she received a Post-Master Certificate in Nursing Education. In 2013, she began the first cohort for the Doctorate of Health Science program at ISU and will finish in 2017. She is the past president & vice president of Sigma Theta Tau International Society of Nursing Lambda Sigma Chapter and is the current chapter counselor.  She has dual membership in Alpha chapter. She is married with two sons, ages 14 and 26. She has a seven year-old grandson. In her spare time, she enjoys reading mystery novels, swimming, scrapbooking, and spending time at the beach.
