State's Interview Days
Congratulations on receiving the Academic Excellence scholarship! We offer four on-campus interview day events starting in December 2018 through February 2019.
Q: What is the advantage of attending an Interview Day?
A: Students who participate in the Interview Day events will double their current scholarship offer of the Academic Excellence valued at $3000. Instead, you will receive the President’s Academic Excellence award valued at $6000 a year guaranteed with the prospect of receiving the University Honors or President’s scholarships.
Q: How do I register for an interview day event?
A: Register online>> You must activate your MyISU portal before signing in. You will see a yellow Sign In box that will require your University username and password. You will be prompted to complete your general application first. This allows students to be considered for other Foundation scholarships. Next, go to Recommended Opportunities and you will see “Interview Day Registration”. Be sure to complete and submit your registration by December 15th.
Q: How long is the program?
A:We offer eight sessions over four days. Each session includes a meal, a welcome, panel interview, writing sample, and professional photograph. Overall, the session total lasts five and a half hours.
Q: What do I wear?
A: Students will be walking outside to sessions throughout their winter interview day on campus. Appropriate dress is necessary. Dress for the day is business casual to professional. Students should be comfortable but we discourage jeans, t-shirts, or gym attire.
Q: What should I bring with me?
A: We have all the information we need from you. You do not need to bring anything with you on the day you interview. Resumes will not be considered as a factor for evaluation.
Q: What happens in the case of inclement weather?
A: We do not cancel event days regardless of weather. If you need to reschedule and we have space available on another event day, you are able to do so. However, to receive the President’s Academic Excellence and remain in the running for the University Honors or President’s Scholarship, you must attend one of the on-campus events.
Q: Do my parents attend with me?
A: Yes, they can. While it is not mandatory we do have programming for parents and guests. They will hear from a variety of students and staff and have time to ask questions.
