History
Business education is deeply rooted in Indiana State University’s history. As early as 1918, the Commerce Department offered business courses in advanced bookkeeping, beginning and advanced shorthand, and advanced typewriting. The first undergraduate degrees with majors in commerce were awarded in 1920 and a program in business administration was introduced in 1952. Over the years, the department experienced several name changes with the School of Business being formally established in 1964. The name was updated in 2004 to the College of Business and again in 2009 to the Scott College of Business thanks to a generous naming gift from Don and Susan Scott.
