Established in 2000 by Dr. Martha Pearman Sharp, an ISU professor of music from 1950 - 1974, the award is given annually to worthy students at the junior or senior level pursuing a major in elementary or early childhood education with an endorsement in reading. Final scholarship selection is made by a committee appointed by the chair of the department.
