Description

Social Justice Summit is a traditional program put on by the Office of Residential Life. In the past, we have done a multitude of programs including artists in residence, speaking engagements, and conference-style programming. This program is Residential Life partnering with Multicultural Services and Programs, and the African American Cultural Center. We would like to empower our students in the realm of social justice and advocacy through our series of events surrounding ADA Accessibility, Advocacy, Awareness, and Justice.

Campus Conversation about Accessibility and Inclusion on Campus Tuesday, March 21st; 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.; Tilson Auditorium (Doors open at 6:30pm) "Dr. O" "Oluwaferanmi Okanlami (bio attached) will be leading a conversation on having intentionality with how we look at ADA Accessibility and Inclusion on college campuses and beyond. This event is free and open to all of campus!

Social Justice Summit Workshop Series (Faculty and Staff) Friday, March 24th; 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Faculty and Staff), 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Graduate Assistants); HMSU 9th Floor Jarrod Benjamin will lead two separate sessions, one dedicated to Faculty and Staff, and one dedicated to Graduate Assistants surrounding ADA Accessibility, Advocacy, Awareness, and Justice, and being leaders in raising awareness and creating spaces of equity.

Social Justice Summit Workshop (Student) Saturday, March 25th; 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; Charles E. Brown African American Cultural Center Patrick "Blake" Leeper will lead a select group of students through an interactive workshop session surrounding ADA Accessibility, Advocacy, Awareness, and Justice with intentions that participants walk away with empowered understanding of how to start and continue to raise awareness on how to create spaces of equity for all abilities.
