Orientation Leadership Opportunities

The Office of New Student Transition Programs seeks enthusiastic, outgoing, and knowledgeable students to help welcome and support our new incoming Sycamores! If you love Indiana State and are ready to learn, lead, be challenged, grow, and server apply for one of our Orientation leadership opportunities! These positions are rewarding experiences that provide opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Orientation Leader

Orientation Leaders help welcome incoming students and their families to the Indiana State University community. This is a full-time paid summer position, with responsibilities occuring in May (Training) and throughout the month of June (two-day State Orientation program); with optional opportunities in July and August.

OL's gain skills in areas including leadership, teamwork, public speaking, group facilitation, goal setting, conflict management, and are expected to work together through relationship building, leadership development, and institutional knowledge training. OL's work alongside professional, graduate and undergraduate staff, and collaborate with campus partners to create a positive and informative experience for new Sycamores and their family members.

The Orientation Leader Position can also be an opportunity to earn internship credit, if desired.

The Orientation Office Staff position is an outstanding opportunity for any student interested in gaining administrative skills, while working in the behind the scenes logistics of State Orientation. This is a part-time paid summer position, with responsibilities occuring in May (Training) and throughout the month of June (Two-day State Orientation program). This position is essential in helping to make sure State Orientation runs smoothly. Orientation Office Staff also play a key role in supporting the State Orientation team throughout the summer.

Transition Mentor

The Transition Mentor position is an outstanding opportunity to meet and mentor our incoming Sycamores in order to help prepare them for their experience at State. This is full-time paid position, with responsibilities occuring in July (GroupMe communication) and the week before classes begin in the fall (two days of training and two days of State Engage). Transition Mentors are essential in helping new students adjust to the Indiana State community and play a key role through summer communication, State Engage, and State Wlecome.
