Program Description:   Students who choose to participate in this study abroad program will be able to tour some of the most influential and historical, musical, and artistic centers in Europe since the Middle Ages. These major European culture centers contain some of the most world-renowned opera houses, museums, and theaters which continue their long standing traditions as influential cultural centers. The purpose of this study abroad is to provide music students an opportunity to experience the cities and cultures associated with the masterworks they study in the music history classroom. International travel experiences help to enrich students’ perceived understanding of music history and inform their worldviews. Places the students will be visiting include Windsor Castle, the Westminster Cathedral, the Royal Academy of Music, St. Luke’s Cathedral, the British Museum, Shakespeare’s Globe Theater, Palais Opera Garnier, the Louvre Museum, Versailles, Montmarte district, Notre Dame Cathedral, Basilique du Sacŕe-Cœur, the Eiffel Tower, the Atomium, the Théâtre de La Monnaie-De Munt, the Musical Instrument Museum of Europe, the Anne Frank House, the Koninklijk Paleis. Through our experiences, the students will become more active and aware participants in a global community; connect with our other academic discipline on a global scale; and share our experiences with our peers, other instructors, and wider community.
