The Alumni Association staff serves more than 100,000 alumni all around the world by engaging them in the life of Indiana State University. Rex joined the Foundation in October 2012 as the Director of the Alumni Association. Currently, as Executive Director, Rex is responsible for engaging alumni and friends in the life of Indiana State University. His previous work experience includes working in academic affairs, student affairs, Greek life and Housing/Residential Life in the higher education field. Most recently he worked in residential life at Indiana State. Rex earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Indiana State. Rex is proud to be a Sycamore and looks forward to meeting new alumni and friends of the University and engaging them in the life of Indiana State.

Hilary began working for Indiana State University in 2011 and currently serves as the Assistant Director of Communications at the Indiana State University Alumni Association. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in communication and public relations from Indiana State in 2010 and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in student affairs and higher education. In her role as the Assistant Director of Communications, her work involves engaging alumni in the life of the university and providing different avenues for alumni to stay connected. She is the campus advisor for State Dance Marathon, a student organization which raises awareness of the Children’s Miracle Network to students, faculty, and staff at Indiana State University and the Terre Haute community. Hilary enjoys meeting alumni, hearing about their experiences at Indiana State, and sharing their stories in meaningful ways. She is a proud Sycamore, and of course, her favorite color is blue!

Ben joined the Foundation team in October 2013 as the Assistant Director of the Alumni Association. In his position, he works directly with the Regional Alumni Associations to engage alumni in the life of the University. Ben also advises the Sycamore Ambassadors, the official student alumni group on campus. His work will increase awareness of the ISU Alumni Association among alumni and student communities. As a 2005 and 2007 alumnus, he is very passionate about Indiana State and enjoys meeting other alumni and hearing how ISU has impacted their lives. Ben’s wife, Christy (Rentschler) Kappes is also a graduate of Indiana State and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education in 2004.

Rayven is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Science at Indiana State University in the areas of music and political science. She is an alumna of Alpha Phi sorority here at ISU and has been active on campus as a member of organizations such as Concert Choir, Masterworks Chorale, and Sycamore Singers. She has been active in the community as a cantor at St. Mary of the Woods Village Church and Stage Manager of the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra. Rayven enjoys connecting with current students and alumni by encouraging them to engage in university life and come back whenever they can to support their Sycamores.

John Newton serves as the Emeritus Vice President for Alumni Affairs and Constituent Relations. His first memories of Indiana State date back to the ISTC Gym and watching Sycamore basketball greats Johnny Dow and Johnny Robbins lead fast breaks! A native of Terre Haute, he graduated from Wiley High School in 1965 and ISU in 1970 and 1980. John has been employed at ISU for more than 35 years. His work experience includes alumni affairs, public relations and development. He states he has worked with great mentors and has come to know literally thousands of ISU alumni, and has an overwhelming love and appreciation for our alma mater. His older daughter Anne is an ISU graduate with degrees in Political Science and Spanish and is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center. His younger daughter Katy attended ISU and is completing her degree in Indianapolis. His stepson Craig is a graduate of the ISU School of Business with both a BS and MBA. His brothers and sister, nieces and nephews, aunts, and uncles all attended ISU.
